Job summary

Temple Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Medical Surgical unit on the 24HR Evening Shift (3pm-11pm) in Philadelphia, PA. You will support direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and assist with activities of daily living while monitoring comfort, safety and changes in condition.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent; preferred Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program; 1 year patient care experience; Basic Life Support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a patient care role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
• Provides comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs.
• Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs.
• Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition.
• Incorporates the concepts of the Hospital’s Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities.
• Accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee for all activities.
• If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire.
