Job summary

Temple University Health System in Philadelphia, PA, seeks a Patient Care Assistant for the 6A Medical Surgical unit on a 40-hour evening shift. You will support RN-directed care, assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and perform ECGs and basic glucose checks, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent; nursing assistant or medical assistant program or clinical rotation preferred. BLS is required; CMA/CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a patient care role preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CMA or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under RN guidance.
• Implements plan of care considering physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
• Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose checks.
• Observes equipment function, treatment results and dressings for changes.
• Adheres to department policies and customer service standards.
