Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a Patient Account Registrar to support the Admitting and Patient Accounts teams in Lewiston. The role involves interviewing patients or representatives to gather demographics, collecting insurance information, and verifying eligibility and authorizations.

Proficiency with medical terminology and data entry is essential. Evening shift is 12:00pm–12:00 am, with pay in the $20.00–$23.75 per hour range.

Qualifications

• Prior hospital admissions experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and meet timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or representatives to obtain demographics and insurance information.
• Input and retrieve data; verify eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Communicate with patients using age-appropriate techniques; coordinate with Admitting and PBX/reception areas.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology; complete special projects within deadlines.
