Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a Patient Account Registrar for the Evening shift. The role handles patient demographics, insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations within the Admitting area.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer Services experience required.
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required.

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or representative to obtain demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Work closely with the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with the population using age-specific techniques from neonatal to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
