Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Patient Access Account Specialist to provide patient-focused services, including outpatient/inpatient registration and insurance verification, while guiding patients through financial requirements.

The role supports ad-hoc operational projects, analyzes data, and prepares detailed summaries for leadership decisions, with an evening shift and full-time schedule (32 hours per week) including some holidays.

Qualifications

• Entry level position. Minimum one (1) year customer service experience. Patient Access experience preferred.
• Additional minimum qualification of two plus (2+) years hospital registration or insurance verification experience.
• Uses specialized knowledge to support key areas of the organization related to an area of expertise. Uses data, research analysis & problem-solving skills to support colleagues & leadership in achieving organization’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Researches, collects & analyzes information. Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, & leads through resolution.
• Distributes analytical reports and supports performance improvement activities.
• Analyses, processes & edits for correctness based on payer guidelines to ensure accurate billing and timely payments.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, policies and compliance programs and applies them in daily work.
