Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist for the ED - PRN Evening to support pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification at Baptist Medical Center South. You will ensure accurate entry of patient demographics and benefits information and coordinate with financial services at the point of service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in healthcare or business preferred.
• 2 years’ experience in medical or hospital patient access or financial services preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
• Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification.
• Referral to financial counseling and point-of-service collections.
• Ensure accurate data entry of patient demographics and benefits information.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits; collect patient financial responsibility.
• Understand regulatory requirements (Medicare Secondary Payer, HIPAA, EMTALA) and related signage.
• May have additional duties within scope of the role.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
