Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist PRN for the 2nd shift in the Emergency Department. You will handle pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, and refer to financial counseling as needed.

You will ensure accurate demographic/benefit data in systems, verify eligibility, coordinate benefits, and collect patient financial responsibility at the point of service, while complying with HIPAA and EMTALA requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• At least 2 years in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office and data entry accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-registration and registration in the Emergency Department.
• Identify and verify payer information; refer to financial counseling as needed.
• Collect at point of service; ensure accurate data in computer systems.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordinate benefits; determine patient financial responsibility.
• Understand regulatory requirements (Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA) and apply them.
