Job summary

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA, performs cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of reusable supplies and equipment. They assemble and decontaminate instruments for the OR and Mercy Family clinics, ensuring carts are ready for surgical use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with an interest in continuing education.
• Preferred CRCST Certificate after the 2nd year of employment

Responsibilities

• Cooperates and communicates with and accepts direction from the Director of Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Sterile Processing supervisor and OR clinical leaders as it relates to the preparation and distribution of surgery supplies and case cart setups on a daily basis. • Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies in work areas and assumes the responsibility for decontamination, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment. (team Work, Initiative)
• Responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do that particular case are on the cart and ready for surgical use. (Initiative, Team Work)
• Responsible for the cleaning, wrapping, assembling and sterilization of all hospital and Mercy Clinic instruments and equipment. (Initiative, Continuous Learner)
