Job summary

Allegan Public Schools is seeking an Adult Education Part-Time GED Teacher to deliver engaging classroom instruction in math, science, writing, reading and social studies for the GED test and to help students develop critical thinking and communication skills. This grant-funded position is 6 hours per week at $30/hour for 34 weeks, evenings to be determined, with no benefits.

You will evaluate progress and collaborate with other adult education staff to prepare students for post-secondary

Qualifications

• Current Michigan teaching certificate mandatory.
• Instructional proficiency in mathematics, reading and writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in an educational environment with knowledge of adult learning.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to student learning.
• Provide individualized and classroom instruction in all content areas.
• Evaluate student progress through GED practice testing, and CASAS testing.
• Use computers as an aid to instruction and remediation, and for monitoring student progress.
• Develop strategies to incorporate current issues as a method of instruction.
• Maintain records for documenting student progress as required for program evaluation.
• Possess computer literacy and record keeping skills.
• Attendance required for all scheduled classes.
