Adult Education Part-Time GED Teacher

Contract: 34 weeks

Reports To: Director

Location: Dorr, MI

Wages and hours: 6 hrs/week @ $30/hr for 34 weeks (grant-funded position) If offered the position must apply through EduStaff. No Benefits. Evening hours required days to be determined.

POSITION SUMMARY: GED Instructor provides innovative and motivating classroom instruction to students in the areas of math, science, writing, reading, and social studies in their preparation of the computer-based GED test. Help students develop and apply critical thinking, problem-solving, information processing and communication skills. Evaluate students to determine progress and preparation for the formal testing process. Work in collaboration with other Adult Education staff to help prepare students for successful post-secondary transition and job preparation.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current Michigan teaching certificate mandatory.

2. Instructional proficiency in the areas of mathematics, reading and writing.

3. Strong interpersonal skills.

4. Ability to use techniques for individualized instruction.

5. Experience working in an educational environment with knowledge of adult learning.
