Job summary

AlmaVia of San Rafael, part of Transforming Age, is hiring a Dining Room Server for afternoon/evening shifts. You will create a welcoming dining atmosphere, present menus, assist residents with selections, and ensure accurate order delivery.

Candidates should have prior server experience, basic food safety certifications, and strong English communication. California Food Handler Card or ServSafe is required within 30 days.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Previous server experience preferred.
• 6+ months in long-term care, home care, or related field preferred.
• Software experience using POS (point-of-sale) systems.
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Must obtain First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (Title 22).
• Must obtain California Food Handler Card (or ServSafe) within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, positive dining atmosphere with excellent customer service.
• Present menus to residents and explain daily meal options; offer suggestions.
• Answer questions about menu items, including ingredients and prep methods.
• Record food orders accurately and relay to kitchen.
• Deliver meals and beverages promptly with correct temperatures.
• Observe residents to identify additional needs or requests.
• Assist residents with salad and breakfast bar selections; deliver trays as needed.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently for upcoming services.
• Support daily dining room setup (coffee, desserts, soup/salad bar).
• Follow food service policies and infection control procedures; maintain sanitary areas.
• Promote Transforming Age Mission and Culture of Excellence; support goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
