Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks a Surgical Support Assistant to prepare operating rooms, manage sterile supplies, and support perioperative teams in procedures at our New York campus. You will ensure instrument readiness, stock supplies, and assist nurses and physicians per protocol.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in an OR support role, strong communication, and physical ability to lift equipment and patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an operating room support function with a demonstrated knowledge of OR policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with members of surgical and perioperative materials teams.
• Ability to push, pull, lift and carry medium to heavy weights throughout the day, including equipment and patients.

Responsibilities

• Room Preparation: Secure instruments, sterile supplies and special equipment for procedures in assigned operating rooms.
• Supply/Stocking: Complete inventory requests and report stock shortages to Supervisor and Supply Clerks.
• Surgical Assistance: Assist Nurses and Physicians during surgery in acquisition of supplies and gowning procedures.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in unit-based QI activities and data collection as assigned.
