Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque is hiring an Operating Room Assistant to join our sterile processing and patient care team. You will assist with patient activities, preps, positioning, and monitor equipment under the supervision of a registered nurse.

This role focuses on maintaining aseptic technique, handling supplies, and supporting the OR team throughout procedures. Evening shift, full-time, with consistent 12:00pm–8:30pm hours and some flexibility.

Qualifications

• Assists in physical management of patients and preps.
• Maintains aseptic technique and sterile supplies.
• Supports OR team under registered nurse supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in physical management of patients.
• Complete or assist with surgical preps.
• Assist in patient positioning.
• Clean and prepare equipment and OR between procedures.
• Stock and transport supplies within department.
• Check and fill nitrous and oxygen tanks.
• Transport and log specimens per policy.
• Obtain blood from the blood bank as directed.
• Store supplies and instrument trays post-procedure.
• Assist with monitoring device application per nurse guidance.
