Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Lebanon VA Medical Center seeks a Nursing Assistant (GS-3 to GS-5) to provide patient care in geriatric and extended care settings. The role supports care plans, monitors patients, and collaborates with the treatment team under RN/LPN supervision.

Shift is 3:00pm-11:00pm; occasional weekends/holidays. Benefits include federal leave, pension, and health coverage. Candidate must meet VA qualification standards and be able to lift 45 pounds and perform

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or education or training
• One year of education above high school with courses related to the NA occupation
• Completion of an intensive specialized occupation-related training course of study for NA
• KSAs include patient care, observation, communication, and use of basic equipment
• Physical requirements: lifting 45 pounds or more and long periods of standing/walking
• Preferred: 1 year acute care and some LTC experience

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant may work in outpatient, inpatient, home, or community living care settings.
• Care for patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions.
• Use glucose monitoring machine and report deviations to the care team.
• Document care, observations, and responses.
• Administer basic life support when needed and respond to emergencies.
• Support wound care, transfers, and activities of daily living as directed by RN/LPN.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and proper aseptic technique.
• Work schedule: 3:00pm–11:00pm; every other weekend and holiday.
