Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a Nurse Supervisor for the Evening Shift at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston. You will supervise evening staff, coordinate with the Nurse Manager, and act as liaison with hospital services and external agencies.

Role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage emergencies while ensuring patient-centered, culturally sensitive care. Full-time hours include every other weekend in a 40-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Experience in supervisory/administrative or managerial capacity.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and performance improvement.
• CPR/ALS certification and ability to manage emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise evening shift staff and coordinate with Nurse Manager on reviews.
• Act as liaison with hospital services and external agencies.
• Attend admin meetings and inform staff of updates.
• Manage staffing, authorize overtime, oversee fiscal reporting.
• Ensure participation in educational programs and trainings.
• Address emergencies, admissions, records, equipment and supply needs.
• Oversee IV/Phlebotomy activities and provide culturally sensitive care.
• Serve as Meditech super user in absence of Informatics Specialist.
• Maintain staffing levels based on census and acuity, advocate for patients.
• Lead medical emergencies and ensure proper documentation.
