Qualifications

• One year of nurse management/leadership experience preferred.
• Active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
• Ability to lead diverse team of individuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.
• Must have thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.
• Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.
• Excellent customer service focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, supervision, and management oversight to all nursing staff on all shifts.
• Ensure compliance with company policies as well as all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Supervises the nursing department in the absence of the DON/ADON as directed. Monitors staff compliance with assigned break times and patient care assignments. Effectively collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate all aspects of patient care.
• Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers; ensures appropriate documentation. Conduct patient rounds and provide immediate feedback to assigned staff.
• Initiates coaching/counseling and/or corrective action as necessary.
• Review and investigate patient, family, and staff concerns; take action to resolve and prevent reoccurrence.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of quality nursing staff.
• Reviews staffing at change of shift; assigns and replaces staff to meet patient care needs.
• Ensure nursing unit operates with consideration to budget and cost controls; manage and reduce unnecessary waste and spending when possible.
• Performs other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the healthcare center.
