University of Iowa Health Care—recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States—seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the Nursing team under Nurse Manager supervision at Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Iowa City. This full-time role involves nights and every 4th weekend, with holidays in summer and winter.

Responsibilities include vital signs, asepsis, basic diagnostic tasks, admissions/discharges, patient comfort, and transport.

Formación

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.

Responsabilidades

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
• Carry out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, and Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated
• Perform simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative skin preparation, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders or braces
• Assist with patient admission, transfers, and discharges
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene; turn, position and ambulate patients
• Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies; feed patients and record intake; assist with bedpans and urinals and record output
• Participate in nursing care conferences; report pertinent patient information to nurse in charge
• Maintain equipment and supplies; ensure neatness and cleanliness of unit
