Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison is seeking a Laboratory professional for the Microbiology department. You will interpret and report test results, perform routine and complex analyses, and help ensure accuracy and timeliness of patient data.

Responsibilities include identifying organisms, maintaining equipment, and communicating findings to physicians. This full-time, onsite role offers a stable schedule with an evening shift and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of education or experience.
• Experience not required but helpful for advanced tests.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in results.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and report test results under general direction.
• Perform routine and complex laboratory analyses per procedures.
• Identify infectious organisms and isolate cultures as required.
• Perform quality control and calibration on instruments.
• Report findings to physicians and escalate unusual results.
• Maintain equipment and reagents and ensure safe handling of materials.
• Assist with test selection and evaluation of new methods.
