Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a broad range of diagnostic tests across hematology, chemistry, and microbiology. You will analyze specimens, operate instruments, ensure quality control, and deliver timely results to support patient care.

The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinicians. Day shift with weekend rotation; several ASCP-type credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biological or chemical science, CLIA-defined, on hire.
• Preferred certifications in Medical Laboratory Science or related fields.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests on patient specimens per SOPs.
• Provides clinical data correlation and rapid communication of critical values.
• Maintains and calibrates major automated equipment; coordinates service as needed.
• Performs calibration and quality control procedures and maintains records.
• Participates in proficiency testing and reviews results with clinical leaders.
• Assists in validating new procedures and equipment for physicians.
• Sign-On Bonus up to $15,000 and Educational Assistance (Student Loan Payback) up to $24,000 for Eligible Hires.
