Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Elizabeth, NJ seeks a Mental Health Worker for the Psych IP-Adult DDMI team at 655 E. Jersey Street. This per diem position offers evening shifts and teamwork alongside nurses and physicians.

You will monitor vital signs, draw labs, perform EKGs, assist with daily living activities, lead therapeutic groups, participate in crisis intervention, and document in the medical record. A Bachelor’s degree (or AIMS MHA cert) and BLS from the American Heart Association are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or AIMS MHA Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
• Preferred: Previous experience working with psychiatric and/or substance abuse patients.
• Preferred: Previous experience in psychology or sociology.

Responsibilities

• Monitors vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure.
• Performs EKGs and draws labs.
• Assists with activities of daily living (eating, dressing, bathing).
• Provides therapeutic groups and recreational activities to patients.
• Assists in non-violent crisis intervention.
