The candidate should have a NAACLS MLS program or related BS/BA, and MT/MLS (ASCP) or AMT certification, or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological science with required MLS program or BS/BA in related science meeting certification requirements.
• MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification required, or ASCP categorical with related BS/BA.
• Alternative: associate degree with 60 credit hours incl. chemistry/biology plus MLT certification.
• Students completing NAACLS-accredited programs within 6 months considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate testing and reports results timely by written, verbal, fax or computer.
• Notifies appropriate persons of results and ensures proper documentation.
• Maintains instrument checks, quality control, and routine equipment calibration.
• Documents competency and participates in staff training and meetings.
• Handles samples with proper labeling, preservation, transport, and safe handling.
• Performs proficiency testing reporting and communicates critical results.
