Job summary

Kettering Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Specialist for our huber Heights facility to perform accurate testing and reporting, with strong emphasis on quality control and timely communication of results.

Qualified candidates will hold MT/MLS certification (ASCP/AMT) or ASCP categorical and a related BS/BA. An NAACLS-accredited MLS program or equivalent, or an MLT option with required coursework, is required. Varied shifts including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in biological science, chemistry and mathematics with NAACLS accredited MLS program or related BS/BA that meets certification requirements.
• MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) required or ASCP categorical certification with related BS/BA.
• Associate degree with 60 credit hours including chemistry and biology or military MLS program.
• MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) required.
• All students completing NAACLS accredited program within 6 months considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate testing and recognize abnormal results.
• Report results timely in writing, verbally, by fax or computer.
• Notify appropriate persons as necessary.
• Perform and record instrument checks and quality control.
• Maintain routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Identify QC issues and initiate corrective action.
• Follow instructions for analyzer operation and reagent preparation.
• Document and notify lab leadership appropriately.
• Engage in laboratory communications and staff meetings.
• Prepare samples for testing with proper labeling, preservation and transport.
