Job summary

Jefferson Health in Turnersville, New Jersey is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist (MLT/MLS) to perform and monitor a variety of laboratory analyses. You will follow established procedures to ensure safe operations and accurate test results, working collaboratively with the lab and hospital teams.

The role requires an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field and minimal prior lab training.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of Military Medical Laboratory specialist Training
• Less than 1 year prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted).
• Bachelor's Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of Military Medical Laboratory specialist Training
• Less than 1 year prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted).

Responsibilities

• Properly processes specimens following established protocols for proper patient identification and labelling.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections and reports critical values per hospital policy.
• Completes reports and maintains records by entering data into the LIS.
• Operates analytical equipment for medical laboratory tests and maintains devices.
• Adheres to QC policies to ensure accuracy of results and participates in proficiency testing.
• Maintains regulatory competency and participates in in-services.
• Performs education/training to other technicians and students as requested.
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson values.
