Job summary

Independent School District 196 seeks a Facilities and Grounds/Mechanical Specialist to maintain district buildings and systems. The role requires hands-on work on boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical and building automation, with the ability to work independently and in a team. 8-hour shifts run Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Maintenance experience including preventative maintenance and ability to work independently.
• Special Engineer license required within 6 months of hire.
• EPA Section 608 and AFO/A2L refrigeration certifications required.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical/electrical systems including building automation.
• Must obtain Unlicensed Maintenance Electrician Certification within 3 months.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills; OSHA regulations knowledge.
• Good attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and read technical data.
• Physically capable for maintenance repairs; able to work in extreme conditions.
• Strong communication with staff, students and public.
• Desire to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• No recent disciplinary actions; positive references from supervisors.
• Experience with diverse school communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on boilers, heating, cooling, refrigeration, ventilation, EMS, electrical, plumbing and custodial equipment.
• Perform custodial work when necessary.
• Assume building engineer duties as needed.
