Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a Mechanical Plant Specialist to operate and maintain building mechanical systems, including boilers and cooling towers, at Keene Street Medical Center in Columbia, MO. This hands-on role focuses on reliability and safety to support patient care.

You will monitor the BAS, perform HVAC, electrical and plumbing tasks, and respond to alarms and off-shift coverage. A high school diploma and boiler experience are required; Missouri Class F license may be preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in maintenance and operation of building mechanical systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic controls.
• 1 year of experience in maintenance and operation of high pressure boilers and related equipment.
• Valid driver license; Missouri Class F or higher.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain electrical chillers and steam absorbers; maintain heating, AC, ventilation, boiler, or cooling tower systems.
• Monitor and control building temperatures via BAS (building operation system).
• Respond to elevator trouble, emergency codes, and power outages.
• Operate pneumatic tube system and its control; perform repairs as needed.
• Monitor and maintain chemical levels in cooling tower water treatment system; repair plumbing systems and replace fixtures.
