Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Memorial campus in Worcester, MA. The role focuses on routine and preventive maintenance across multiple building systems, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and mechanical equipment.

The position requires 1–3 years of experience, basic computer skills, and a preference for trade school completion. Work schedule includes evenings, with a 40-hour week and on-site duties at several campus facilities.

Qualifications

• Able to read, write, calculate and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, heating, electrical, and mechanical techniques and repair principles.
• Basic computer skills required.
• One to three years experience.
• Trade school completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs various equipment and systems (medical gas systems, air pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps, alarm panels, etc.).
• Replaces light bulbs and related items. Assists with fire alarm system shutdown, generator and electrical testing.
• Assists with major repairs and installation of equipment and systems.
• Fabricates minor repair parts and components as required.
• Troubleshoots, evaluates, and identifies problems with mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and responds appropriately.
• May perform sheet metal cutting, welding, and soldering duties.
