Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking a Custodial Worker Lead for the Building Services team in Madison, WI. The role supports the custodial staff, oversees daily operations, and ensures building safety and cleanliness during the 2:00 pm–10:00 pm shift.

Starting compensation is $29.79 per hour on the 26-27 Salary Schedule, non-exempt status. This full-time position requires a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and a willingness to work varied duties and shifts.

Qualifications

• Six months custodial experience with MMSD.
• Experience training, coaching, and providing input to the evaluation of staff on custodian techniques and proper procedures.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence.
• Possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
• Demonstrated willingness to work BC I shift with short notice.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritize the work of the custodial team based upon building activities and needs.
• Perform duties of Custodial Worker I and Building Custodian; set a high standard of performance.
• Cover for Building Custodian as needed.
• Problem solve issues related to custodial services with staff.
• Perform outdoor duties including trash pick-up, landscaping, mowing, snow/ice removal, salting, sanding.
• Enter and process work orders and building permits; train staff on daily tasks.
• Monitor facility use and coordinate activities based on permits.
• Check and secure building at end of shifts.
• Respond to communications (email, voice messages) promptly.
• Review, enter, and sign off tasks in EAM for completion.
