Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a part-time Laboratory Scientist - Non-Certified to perform CLIA waivered to moderate complexity testing in a fast-paced lab environment. You will be integral in pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic workflows, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely reporting of results.

The role involves troubleshooting instruments, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with MT/MLS/MLT staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• College or post-graduate laboratory experience.
• Fluent English (reading, writing and speaking).
• Technical aptitude- ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Basic laboratory skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients professionally and follows patient experience guidelines.
• Identifies patients and samples with two identifiers and labels in patient presence.
• May perform venous and capillary blood collection for all ages.
• Assist with sample transport, processing, aliquoting, accessioning and delivery.
• Document routine instrument maintenance and quality checks.
• Troubleshoot instrument issues and assist with procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of lab tests and answer basic patient questions.
