Job summary

Quest Diagnostics invites applications for a Lab Associate I in Indianapolis, IN, working Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The role supports routine laboratory operations, sample preparation and documentation, with eligibility for performance bonuses where offered.

The position emphasizes accurate data handling, safe specimen processing, and collaboration with licensed personnel and supervisors to ensure timely testing and quality control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
• Basic knowledge of operating non-complex equipment
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work second/third shift with potential differential

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes samples for testing, e.g., racking, aliquoting, tube prep.
• Labels, handles, processes or prepares, and transports specimens as needed.
• Identifies sample problems and assists in resolution.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with maintenance; reports equipment issues.
• Assists licensed personnel with pre- and post-analytic testing activities (where allowed).
• Prepares reagents and controls, documents approvals to use.
• Maintains records of reagents/media.
• Maintains inventory and restocks supplies.
• Sorts and accessiones specimens into LIS, then delivers for testing.
• Performs data entry and transcription for data reduction.
• Tallies workload data and prepares reports.
• Assists in quality control procedures.
• Prepares protocols/logs and other documents.
• Answers phones and maintains client confidentiality.
• Keeps lab areas neat, clean and organized.
• Complies with health and safety policies and uses PPE.
• Other duties as assigned.
