Responsibilities include accessioning, verifying sample details, preparing specimens for analysis, answering inquiries, and providing backup transportation.

Qualifications

• Preferred: High School Diploma, Medical Terminology and prior hospital/lab experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint).

Responsibilities

• Accessions patient specimens using computer or manual procedures.
• Reviews specimens for proper labeling and sample type/size for tests.
• Processes and prepares specimens for analysis (e.g., centrifugation, 24 hour urine).
• Answers telephone regarding availability of patient services and collection requirements.
• Maintains records of laboratory reports and performs clerical duties.
• Learn computer systems to obtain data, report results, and generate orders.
• Provide backup support in laboratory stat service and transport specimens.
• Adhere to safety rules and quality protocols; inventory and stocking duties as assigned.
