Job summary

Biltmore Workforce Management in Asheville, NC seeks a Host II to coordinate host stand operations and manage reservations, VIP arrangements, and seating flow. The role requires evening shifts 3:30 pm–11:30 pm, weekend availability, and strong guest service skills.

Responsibilities include greeting guests, seating, maintaining reservations, coordinating with servers, and training Level 1 Hosts; familiarity with OpenTable is preferred. Up to 999 hours/year, starting pay at $17.09/hour.

Qualifications

• Previous host service experience required, preferably in a fine dining or upscale restaurant.
• Fluency in English; basic math skills for cash and credit transactions as needed.
• Familiarity with and/or the ability to quickly become proficient with reservations software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; conveys information effectively; strong guest service recovery skills.
• Proactive, exercises good judgment; anticipates and addresses issues quickly.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congenialities in accordance to department guidelines.
• Maintain an optimum flow of seating by section to best service guests.
• Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant and invite them to return.
• Guide the Servers and Dining Room Assistants in table set-up needs to ensure optimum service to guests; coordinate level 1 Host activities.
• Communicate VIP arrivals and special requests to designated personnel for follow up.
• Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently as specified in department standards.
• Take, record and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations as specified in departmental standards.
• Accommodate all requests for information courteously.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Trains and serves as "go to" resource for Level 1 Hosts.
• Set up Host station with necessary documents, information and supplies; maintain organization at all times.
