Job summary

University Of Michigan seeks a dedicated custodian for experiences in a hospital setting to perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and linen handling. Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching.

Responsibilities

• Clean and polish furniture, cases, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Clean mirrors, inside and exterior glass, and both sides of interior glass while standing on the floor or a step ladder.
• Clean toilet rooms and fixtures.
• Dust venetian blinds while standing on the floor or a step ladder.
• Spot wash walls to remove splash marks around sinks and fingerprints around light switches.
• Make beds and change linen.
• Change or replace shower or cubicle curtains while standing on the floor or a step ladder.
• Collect and transport waste materials to a central location.
• Report items in need of repair.
• Sweep and/or dust mop floors and stairways.
• Wet mop rooms and small areas of the floor or stairs to clean up spilled liquid or food.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies in accordance with specific instructions.
• Open or lock buildings or rooms.
• Turn on and off lights and equipment.
• Replace burnt-out incandescent light bulbs while standing on the floor or a step ladder.
• Move and arrange furniture and furnishings.
• Collect and transport soiled linen to central locations.
• Clean the assigned area of work and equipment.
• Wet mop floors and stairways, including carpeted areas.
• Hand mop areas inaccessible to mechanical floor cleaning equipment.
• Operate walk-behind equipment used for routine floor cleaning.
• Operate touch-free spray/vacuum cleaning equipment.
