Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Evening Hospice Registered Nurse in Massachusetts. The role runs Monday through Friday, 4:00pm–9:00pm. Workload is 25 hours but paid for 32 hours, with full benefits based on full-time status.

The RN will plan and deliver hospice care, perform comprehensive assessments, develop patient-specific care plans, and educate patients and families about the dying process and symptom management. Active MA RN license and BLS required; EPIC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or BSN (preferred) from an accredited school of nursing.
• An active valid Massachusetts RN license.
• An active American Health Association BLS certification.
• At least 1 year of direct care nursing experience, preferably in public health or home care nursing; EPIC experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver care to patients using the nursing process and interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team.
• Complete and document initial assessments of patient and family to determine hospice care needs.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and review history of illness.
• Develop patient-specific care plans with goals based on nursing diagnosis focusing on pain and symptom management.
• Provide information to patient and family about the dying process and expectations.
• Instruct patient and family on medication actions, side effects, dosing, and administration.
• Document services using problem-oriented records.
• Instruct and supervise Hospice Aides; supervise care every two weeks.
