Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a Histology Technician to process, embed, and section tissue specimens using microtomes and paraffin blocks.

You will perform routine and special stains, prepare slides, and ensure quality control while maintaining laboratory safety and compliance. The role includes shift coverage and inventory maintenance in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associate of science degree in NAACLS-accredited histology technician program or a two-year AS with chemistry/biology coursework.
• 1 year of LSA experience in a high complexity Histology lab or equivalent.
• Certification preferred: ASCP Histotechnologist or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Processes and embeds tissue in paraffin and cuts blocks with microtomes.
• Stains tissues using routine and special stains; prepares slides and ensures quality controls.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and a clean work environment per SOPs; participates in inter-shift coverage.
