Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is hiring for a store associate to create outstanding customer experiences by delivering friendly, helpful service and maintaining a safe, clean environment. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales and quality goals while following Food Safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include answering questions, stocking shelves, checking dates, labeling products, and staying aware of specials and promotions.

Qualifications

• Minimum: ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Desired: Any retail experience.
• Desired: Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with recommendations.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products.
• Report ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay aware of ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; reinforce safety programs.
• Inspect equipment and notify of repairs; report accidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity as required.
