Job summary

Colusa Medical Center is seeking a Cook in the Dietary/Food Services department for an evening full-time role. You will review patient diet plans, prepare meals per recipes, and ensure accurate portions and proper sanitation.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas, rotating food safely, and supporting a collaborative team in a hospital setting. English literacy and a Food Handler’s Certification within 2 months are required.

Qualifications

• Food Handler’s Certification within 2 months of hire.
• Experience desirable, but not required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Clean and appropriately groomed.
• Must be a supportive team member and contribute to teamwork.
• Must possess the ability to interact tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, and the public.
• Must not pose a direct threat to safety and health in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Review menu and patient diet plan to determine ingredients required.
• Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, marinating, cubing and puréeing meats, vegetables and fruits.
• Make menu items according to recipes, ensuring correct seasoning.
• Cook nutritious meals according to standardized protocols with priority on cleanliness.
• Perform portioning on trays on a per patient basis.
• Oversee cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas.
• Perform regular cleaning and upkeep on kitchen appliances.
• Timely conduct food rotation to prevent spoilage.
