Job summary

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - South is hiring a Food Service Worker to support meal preparation for clients with mental illness. The role requires preparing components of meals, supervising entry-level staff, and ensuring safe cooking practices.

The position involves standing for long hours, lifting up to 35 lbs, and complying with nutrition, food safety, and sanitation standards. An evening differential of $2.00 per hour applies to eligible shifts.

Qualifications

• Introductory knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to cook large quantities and read and follow recipes.
• Ability to work with and supervise employees in food preparation and maintaining relationships.
• Dependability and willingness to work with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepares several parts of a major meal (entree, vegetable, soup, salad, or dessert).
• Assists in meal prep by measuring ingredients, mixing, boiling, frying, and monitoring temperatures.
• Prepares foods on an independent basis.
• Directs and assists entry-level employees in food prep, serving, and cleaning.
• Receives direction from Lead Food Service Workers.
