Job summary

St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center - North, part of the Missouri Department of Mental Health, seeks a positive Food Service Worker to assist in preparing meals and supporting dietary services for clients with mental illness.

The role includes assisting in meal prep, supervising entry-level staff, and ensuring sanitation and safety in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Evening hours receive a $2.00/hour differential, with a comprehensive State of Missouri benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1 year previous work experience or training in food service or equivalent.
• Lift up to 35lbs and stand for long periods.
• Introductory knowledge of nutrition, food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to cook large quantities and read and follow recipes.
• Ability to supervise employees and maintain effective working relationships.
• Completion of 6 month probationary period and no disciplinary action in last 12 months.
• Willing to receive Hepatitis A vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Prepares several parts of a major meal such as an entire entree, vegetable, soup, salad, or dessert.
• Assists in meal prep by measuring ingredients, mixing, boiling, frying, and monitoring temperatures.
• Prepares foods on an independent basis.
• Directs and assists entry-level staff in food prep and serving, and cleaning of utensils and work areas.
• Receives direction from Lead Food Service Workers with specific instructions.
