Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking an experienced Evening Facilities Project Supervisor to oversee evening maintenance operations and provide direction to a team of skilled trades staff on the SDSU campus in San Diego. The role coordinates multi-trade maintenance, project activities, and emergency response to ensure safe, efficient campus operations.

Standard hours are 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with potential variation based on operational needs.

Qualifications

• Five years of verifiable employment in one or more trades (Masonry, Carpentry, Roofing, Locksmith, Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing) or equivalent supervisory experience.
• Experience coordinating or supervising work in large, multi-building environments (higher education preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field or equivalent supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience using CMMS to track work, document conditions, and support maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Oversee evening maintenance operations and provide work direction to skilled trades staff.
• Supervise and assign work to evening shift staff including Plumbers, Electricians, Building Service Engineers, and Maintenance Mechanics.
• Monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance; maintain labor, material, and work records.
• Provide on-the-job training and input on employee performance.
• Coordinate with other trades and supervisors to support projects and campus operations.
• Plan and coordinate schedules, prepare estimates, and determine labor and material needs.
