Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a dependable Facilities Worker I to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of campus buildings and infrastructure on the San Diego campus. This non-exempt, full-time role focuses on preventive maintenance and semi-skilled repairs to ensure safe and reliable campus operations.

Responsibilities include assisting journey-level trades staff, documenting work in the CMMS, and supporting emergency and project-related tasks.

Qualifications

Six months of experience as a trades assistant or laborer, or six months of hands-on facilities and systems maintenance experience.
Two years of verifiable employment in semi-skilled facilities maintenance, mechanical/HVAC/plumbing support, construction labor, or closely related work; trade school may substitute for one year.
Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system to receive, document, and close work orders.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, minor adjustments, and equipment checks on campus building systems.
Identify and report leaks, wear, damage, access issues, safety concerns, and other maintenance needs.
Document completed work, materials, labor, and facility conditions in the CMMS.
Assist journey-level trades staff with maintenance, repair, renovation, events, and projects.
