Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking an experienced Evening Facilities Project Supervisor to oversee evening maintenance operations and provide work direction to skilled trades staff on campus in San Diego. This role coordinates multi-trade maintenance, project activities, and emergency response to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable campus operations.

The ideal candidate will have journey-level trade experience with supervisory responsibilities, CMMS proficiency, and a strong focus on safety

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level crafts work experience in one or more building trades.
• One year of lead/supervisory capacity minimum.
• Journey-level skills demonstrated through apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Experience identifying, documenting, and prioritizing maintenance deficiencies in building systems.
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Knowledge of regulated materials (asbestos, lead, mold) and safe work practices.
• Five years in trades like Masonry, Carpentry, Roofing, Locksmith, Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.
• Experience in large, complex campuses or facilities preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field preferred or equivalent supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assign work to evening shift staff (Plumbers, Electricians, Building Service Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics).
• Monitor progress, quality, safety, and records; maintain labor, material, and work logs.
• Provide on-the-job training and input on employee performance.
• Coordinate skilled maintenance, repair, and project support across multiple building systems.
• Interpret plans, prepare estimates, determine labor/material needs, and manage orders.
• Coordinate with other trades and supervisors to support projects and campus operations.
• Coordinate evening emergency maintenance response; assess hazards and ensure corrective actions.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and safe work areas; support other Facilities Services teams.
