Job summary

Smith College is seeking a custodian to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for Facilities Management, with a M-F 3:30pm–11:30pm shift in Northampton, MA. Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, floors, offices, classrooms and labs; performing emergency cleanups and basic maintenance; protecting safety and reporting issues to supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of custodial experience, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school/vocational diploma, GED equivalent or combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 1 year custodial/housekeeping experience in a service related industry.
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to fifty pounds; bend, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders.

Responsibilities

• Clean rest rooms, surfaces, fixtures and restock supplies.
• Mop floors and refinish as needed.
• Clean assigned spaces including offices, classrooms, labs and storage areas.
• Remove trash and recyclables; maintain safe environment.
• Respond to emergencies and perform basic maintenance tasks.
