Job summary

Merrimack College is seeking a custodian to perform general custodial duties across campus, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, restroom cleaning, trash removal, and restocking supplies. You will work with custodial staff to meet the college’s physical needs and support its mission.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, English fluency, and prior custodial experience preferred; an associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus, and some background in multi-building

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; associate/bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior custodial work and knowledge of best practices are preferred.
• Must be able to operate custodial equipment and perform routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform general custodial duties: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, restocking supplies.
• Collect and dispose of interior/exterior trash and recycling.
• Perform specialized cleaning: carpet extraction, window cleaning, floor care, stain removal.
• Respond to facility emergencies (water leaks, floods) and assist with cleanups.
• Transport equipment and supplies between campus buildings and maintain equipment.
• Identify and report maintenance issues observed during duties for timely repairs.
• Wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, masks) as required by task.
• Assist with campus events: set up/break down furniture and monitor restrooms.
