Job summary

Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, Inc. seeks a part-time ESOL Instructor to teach an English course integrated with job training in hospitality for the restaurant and hotel industries. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, for a total of 10 contact hours per week.

The instructor will dedicate 5 hours per week to lesson preparation and 1 hour per week to staff meetings, focusing on measurable skills gains, testing, and retention in a diverse learning environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate or higher in TESOL.
• Knowledge of TESOL methods and techniques; experience working with multicultural adult learners.
• At least one year of teaching experience, preferably in a community setting.
• Language skills in Spanish, Arabic, and/or Chinese are preferred.
• Availability to teach Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate ESOL classes for students in an integrated ESOL and job training course.
• Curriculum design and lesson planning.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
