Job summary

Lawrence Public Schools - Adult Learning Center seeks a part-time ESOL Educator for evening classes (5:45-8:45 pm). The position focuses on adult learners’ ESL, literacy, numeracy, and technology skills to prepare for college, careers, and citizenship.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, using digital tools, assessing progress, and collaborating with staff. A MA ESL or ABE license is required; experience with SABES and CCRSAE is a plus. Salary is hourly and position runs through 2026-2027.

Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts Teaching License required in ESL, or ABE with strong background in second language acquisition.
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• At least three years' experience teaching adults, preferably ABE or ESOL.

Responsibilities

• Teach ESOL and support language, literacy, numeracy, and technology skills for adults.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instruction with appropriate accommodations.
• Use digital technology for engaging, remote, or asynchronous instruction; provide feedback and assess progress.
• Communicate effectively with students and colleagues; maintain records and attendance as required.
