Job summary

Northern Essex Community College is seeking a part-time ABE/HSE Language Arts and Social Studies Instructor for the Lawrence Campus. Evening classes run 6-9pm, with up to 8 hours weekly and an open pool for future openings.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, delivering instruction, and supporting adult learners aiming for HiSET success. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Education/English/Communications or equivalent experience, strong communication, and proficiency with LMS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience working with multilevel classes and differentiated instruction.
• Ability to build rapport with adult learners and foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Proficiency using learning management systems and classroom technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate language arts and social studies lessons for adults pursuing HiSET.
• Develop critical thinking alongside reading, writing, and social studies content.
• Support HiSET exam preparation and student success.
• Plan lessons for each class meeting and track progress.
• Communicate material effectively in both in-person and online settings.
• Provide direct instruction and small-group activities; monitor attendance and portfolios.
• Use technology to support instruction virtually and on campus.
• Coordinate with the Program Coordinator for HiSET programs.
