Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services team member to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will clean and disinfect areas, remove waste, and support infection prevention standards to prevent infections and sustain quality care.

The role is full-time on the 2nd shift, onsite at 789 Central Avenue, with typical tasks including operating cleaning equipment and collaborating with hospital personnel to ensure a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Related experience 0-1 year preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and how to apply chemicals safely.
• Working knowledge of cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas according to established schedules and infection prevention guidelines.
• Remove and dispose of waste safely and in accordance with hospital procedures.
• Maintain assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition at all times.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed to support departmental operations and cleaning activities.
• Operate environmental services equipment, including floor machines and buffers.
• Follow all safety, infection control, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training as required.
• Work collaboratively with hospital staff to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
