Job summary

Tufts Medicine's Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA is seeking an Environmental Services Aide I to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across patient areas and facilities. This entry-level role performs routine housekeeping, stock management, waste disposal, and disinfection under supervision, with emphasis on infection control and quality standards.

Evening shift, 40 hours per week, includes every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Ability to read simple instructions, write, and speak basic English.
• Experience operating basic cleaning equipment and tools.
• Familiarity with heavy cleaning equipment operation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, orderly environment in patient areas, offices, clinics, and other areas.
• Keep cleaning cart stocked with required supplies; ensure solutions are secured.
• Remove waste (rubbish, cardboard, recyclables, hazardous materials) daily.
• Disinfect bathrooms, surfaces, and rooms with appropriate chemicals.
• Replenish bathroom supplies and restock consumables.
• Transport linen and replace bags; assist with linen logistics.
• Operate heavy cleaning equipment safely (vacuum, floor machines, scrubbers).
• Report equipment problems to supervisor and perform daily inspections.
• Follow infection control practices and job safety procedures.
• May assist with operating room cleaning and special cleaning tasks.
