Job summary

MarinHealth is seeking an evening-shift janitor to maintain patient care areas and support services. The role involves heavy lifting, cleaning of floors and carpets, trash removal, window and drapery care, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards across multiple hospital zones.

Qualified candidates will have a high school level education, at least six months in a healthcare or similar setting, IAMTAC certification within 30 days, and strong teamwork and compliance with cleaning protocols.

Qualifications

• High School level or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing, rehab facility, or medical clinic.
• IAMTAC license required within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to organize work tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
• Must be able to physically handle workload and heavy lifting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervision and other employees.
• Flexible attitude regarding varied job tasks and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled cycle cleaning and non-scheduled projects as specified by department policy and procedure.
• Operate heavy equipment including high-speed floor buffers, scrubbing machines, carpet extractors, large area vacuums.
• Strip and refinish hard surface floors.
• Shampoo and extract carpeted surfaces.
• Spot clean carpets.
• Clean stairways, exits, entrances and elevators as specified.
• Use cleaning products and floor care chemicals safely.
• Remove trash including biohazardous waste and soiled linen; manage waste areas.
• Perform specialized cleaning in all facility areas.
• Frequent lifting of heavy trash and linen bags and moving furniture as needed.
• Wash windows using prescribed method and clean window blinds.
• Change drapes and cubicle curtains in patient rooms and public areas.
• Ceiling and wall washing; interior window cleaning per procedures.
• Adhere to CARES standards and hospital policies.
