Job summary

The Sioux Falls School District is seeking a dedicated Elementary Custodian to help maintain a safe, healthy learning environment for SFSD students, with a focus on cleanliness and readiness for daily activities.

The role requires a High School Diploma, 8+ months of training or 1 year of custodial experience, and the ability to lift 75 pounds. Work is 2:00 pm–10:00 pm, 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) with benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 8 months training at the high school or 4 months high school training with minimum 1 year prior custodial experience.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalkboards and sets up for activities.
• Washes walls, woodwork, and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains floors and restrooms.
• Operates heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems; reports needed repairs.
• Maintains lawns and playgrounds; assists with set ups for school activities.
• Operates security systems and secures building; works a revised schedule as needed.
• Supports holiday, extended day, and weekend activities; performs other duties as assigned.
